It never ceases to amaze me how people will question the price of working with me one to one, at our locations or even our online programmes.
It seems that a lot of people want a discount when it comes to their health. For me this is just crazy, your body and your mind should be your number one priority.
Whilst many continue to question the price of eating healthier or joining a gym I want to give you a different perspective.
Ask yourself this; when was the last time you went into a bar, chose your beer and then tried to negotiate on the price when it was handed to you? When was the last time you ordered a take out and then haggled on the price upon collection?
I can’t get my head around how people are willing to pay the price to get intoxicated every weekend or fill their body with crap yet look for a cut price option on their own health and fitness. I hear these statements all the time;
“I’ll have to run it by the missus to see if we can afford it”
“I’ve got a lot going of personal stuff going on right now; I’m not sure I can commit”
“I’ve got a holiday coming up”
Here’s my response to these common excuses;
“Go ask your missus if she would like to see a lighter, leaner, more energetic, happier you?”
“We all have day to day personal issues, if you exercise and eat better you will be able to deal with day to day stress a lot more”
“You want to look good on holiday or sit around the pool feeling fat, depressed and miserable wishing you had done something about it?”
Sorry if this sounds harsh but I sometimes think the truth needs to be told. I’ve met so many people over the years that talk a good game when I meet them but when it comes down to it they just don’t have the minerals to change.
If you are considering getting fit but doing it on the cheap then your mind-set is broken – workout how much you are spending on beers and junk every week; make some savings there and invest in yourself.
Do you think you would function better in work? At home? Around your family if you were fitter and healthier? Of course you would!
Don’t just do it for yourself, do it for them.
Speaking to one my great friends and clients Stuart, recently he said “Look I know I sometimes drink too much on the weekend but training with you 4 x per week has without doubt kept me from having a heart attack”. I really admired his honesty and it sparked me to write this today.
In another conversation with another great client and friend, George, who is an A+E doctor, he told me of a story recently whereby a man in his early 40s came in to the hospital in a hell of a state complaining of chest pains.
He went on to tell George about how he was working all the hours God sends because his wife wanted a new house in a new area and blah blah blah. The guy was so stressed he was verging on a stroke if he didn’t slow down.
This begs the question – what truly is wealth? Because for me it’s HEALTH. Health is the first wealth for me. Don’t get me wrong; we all want to earn more and be a better provider but I can tell you that the day to day feeling I get from waking up in the morning feeling refreshed and energised due to the lifestyle choices I make daily is the greater than any holiday Ive been on in the past.
Feeling healthy is fucking awesome, having energy is awesome, having the focus and mental clarity to deal with what life throws at us, is awesome.
Watches, houses, and cars; yeah we all want nice ones but for fuck sake include your health into these things you want because when your health is gone you are fucked.
So what about you lads?
Are you currently ignoring your health and fitness in the pursuit of other ‘shiny’ objects? Listen we all want nice things and a nice life but ask yourself if your health is suffering because of it?
If it is – trust me you will know how you’re feeling, you don’t need me to tell you then STOP procrastinating and putting it off.
Call that gym and get an induction
Go for a try out at a local bootcamp
Invest in that coach that can help you achieve your goals
and STOP trying to do it on the cheap – this is your health we are talking about.
What fucking use are you to your family in a hospital bed, getting diabetes, or even having a stroke / heart attack?
Already making your health and fitness a priority? Good man, I salute you!
